Koi Pond Annual Fund
The impact of your donation
The Koi Pond Annual Fund collects tax-deductible cash donations during the school’s fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
The annual campaign provides critical additional funding, allowing d.tech to remain competitive among teacher salaries, improve its sports program and student clubs, and keep the Design Realization Garage at a state-of-the-art level. Because the campaign is annual, every July 1, it resets to zero.
Parents and community members can contribute to the Koi Pond Annual Fund in various ways.

Koi Pond Annual Fund Goals:
Attract and retain top teachers ➔
Since opening its doors, d.tech has strived to find the best teachers who align with its mission and core values. Our Koi Pond Annual Fund aims to make our teachers the highest-paid educators in the Bay Area. Your generous donations will directly contribute to achieving this goal and supporting the excellence in education that d.tech strives for daily.
Maintain a state-of-the-art makerspace ➔
D.tech’s impressive Design Realization Garage (affectionately known as “the DRG”) is an 8,000-square-foot, two-story fabrication lab. It is an interdisciplinary space for students to prototype design ideas and create visual representations of their thinking. It is equipped with rapid prototyping materials and tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers, soldering stations, film editing and design software, and much more.
Improve sports opportunities for students ➔
Design Tech Athletics is committed to providing a positive, challenging, competitive, and fair athletic experience that emphasizes d.tech principles coupled with personal integrity, sportsmanship, wellness, and fulfillment of the student athlete’s potential. Currently, d.tech offers 16 sports throughout the school year. Learn more by visiting the sports program page.
Improve club opportunities for students ➔
Clubs at d.tech are created, organized, and run by students. Student founders find a staff mentor, create a mission statement and organizational structure, and commit to an annual “service to the community.” School clubs cover everything from feminist and cultural groups, art & photography, coding, singing, hip hop, leadership groups, music, gaming, robotics, young entrepreneurs, community service, and more.

Why Does Our Community Support the Koi Pond Annual Fund?
“As a proud supporter of our school, I’m honored to contribute to the programs that make a real difference in the lives of our students. My donations help ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate in activities like soccer and other sports, fostering teamwork, discipline, and healthy habits. These programs not only allow our kids to stay active and engaged, but they also help them build confidence and friendships that last a lifetime. I believe in the power of sports to shape young minds and bodies, and I’m grateful to be part of a community that values and invests in these experiences.
Thank you to everyone who contributes, making these opportunities possible for our children.”
– Mike & Jennifer Crusick
“I deeply appreciate the Koi Pond Fund for enabling our son to explore unique experiences that sparked his curiosity, built his confidence, and helped him discover new passions.
I am grateful for the lasting impact these opportunities have had on him and how they support his journey as he heads off to college.”
– Michelle & Eric Techel
“We support the Koi Pond Fund because we want to see the d.tech community continue to grow and flourish. d.tech students benefit greatly from the balanced education delivered by engaged teachers and the creative thinking taking place in the design spaces, clubs, and sports. Supporting the school is critical; we are honored to see our donation help the students and teachers make the world a better place.”
– Kelly & Kent Kockos
“I donate to the Koi Pond Fund because I understand that the true cost of educating each student often exceeds what the school district can provide. The ACE (Actual Cost to Educate) concept highlights the gap between state and local funding and the resources needed to give d.ech students a quality education.
By contributing, I help ensure that d.tech can hire the best teachers and also offer enriching programs, extracurriculars, and essential support that make a huge difference in our students' lives.”
