At Design Tech High School, we are committed to supporting student health, wellness, and academic success.
Meals & Wellness at School
Healthy students are better able to focus and learn, so we provide nutritious meals that meet USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) requirements.
Allergies & Special Diets
Families must notify the school and provide annual documentation from a physician if a student requires a meal accommodation.

Breakfast: 8:25–8:45 am in the cafeteria
Lunch: during the designated lunch period
All students may receive free breakfast and lunch under California’s Universal Meals Program.
Meals are planned with student preferences in mind and include: lean protein, whole grains, fresh fruit or 100% juice, vegetables, and milk. They are calorie-controlled, low in sodium, and contain <10% saturated fat and 0g trans fat.

Students remain on campus during lunch; seating is available on the back patio and Bay Trail.
Microwaves are available for those bringing meals from home.
Outside food must follow the Wellness Policy; candy, soda, energy drinks, and other high-sugar/high-fat items are not permitted.

All snacks and treats provided during the school day (including for celebrations or rewards) must meet USDA Smart Snack standards:
≤150 calories per serving
≤35% total calories from fat
≤10% total calories from saturated fat
≤30g sugars per serving
≤230 mg sodium per serving
Non-food rewards are encouraged.
Gum is not permitted.
