Design Realization Garage

Open. Inspiring. Maker Space.

Affectionately known as ‘the DRG,’ the Design Realization Garage is an 8,000-square-foot, two-story fabrication lab—an interdisciplinary space for students to prototype design ideas and create visual representations of their thinking. The DRG is a special place that every single d.tech student will experience. It is also home to our award-winning robotics team.

The DRG’s two floors are equipped with rapid prototyping materials and tools, such as laser cutters, 3D printers, soldering stations, film editing and design software, and extensive equipment, power tools, woodworking tools, and electronics.

All 9th-grade students receive a year-long introduction to the DRG, and learn to:

  • Take part in workshops to develop maker skills

  • Build things to help improve their understanding of the core curriculum

  • Conduct rapid prototyping for their Design Lab class

The DRG is made possible by the generous support of our parent community via the Koi Pond Annual Fund. Donations to the Koi Pond Annual Fund allow d.tech to maintain the DRG with new, upgraded equipment and materials. Learn more about the Koi Pond Fund by clicking here
