Model United Nations
About Model UN
Model United Nations (Model UN) is an educational program where students role-play as diplomats representing different countries in the United Nations. They research global issues, practice debate, and collaborate to write resolutions that address real-world challenges. Through this experience, students build critical skills—public speaking, negotiation, leadership, and teamwork—while gaining a deeper understanding of international relations and diplomacy. Model UN empowers young people to think globally, communicate effectively, and become problem-solvers prepared to lead in their communities and beyond. It’s both an academic challenge and a powerful opportunity for students to grow as informed, engaged global citizens.
What to Expect
From October through April, our delegates will have the opportunity to attend multiple conferences, including Stanford’s selective SMUNC and Berkeley’s prestigious BMUN. Additionally, in the spring, we will host our own “d.mun” conference that last year inspired over 170 Bay Area middle schoolers to explore diplomacy.
Expenses
We are lucky to have support from the Koi Pond Annual Fund, which allows us to keep our expenses lower. Expenses for the year include:
Registration for all delegates and advisors at every conference
Team fees for all conferences
Lodging at BMUN
