Enrollment Process

Design Tech is a free public charter school that values diversity in race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic level, sexual orientation, physical ability, family structure and religion.

Registration for the 2019-2020 school year has closed. It will reopen in early January 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year for grades 9 and 10 only.

Lottery Registration

Step 1 • Address Verification ➝

  • Prospective students and families must be current California residents.

  • Students in the Sequoia & San Mateo UHS Districts receive lottery priority but to be eligible, the family must complete
address verification for the student at the district office even if they have a sibling already enrolled in that district. Priority is not a guarantee of receiving an offer, but it is to the student’s advantage to have it.

Address verification for d.tech’s lottery can be completed from November to mid-February.

Address Verification - San Mateo Union High School District 650 N. Delaware Street, San Mateo, CA 94401 Tel. (650) 558-2299

Address Verification - Sequoia Union High School District 480 James Ave, Redwood City, CA 94062 Tel. (650) 369-1411 ext. 22209

  • Other California Residents
The chances of receiving an offer are much reduced because the number of students with priority exceeds the seats available. Students who reside outside the San Mateo and Sequoia Union High School District are automatically waitlisted and will be contacts only if the school fails to fully enroll with address verified residents.

  • Students in Free or Reduced Price Meal Program (FRPM)
Families of students in the FRPM program should email the FRPM letter from their district to the d.tech enrollment office by the February 28 deadline to be eligible for priority.

Step 2 • Register for Lottery ➝

  • Register between early January to the end of February for the March lottery. The next registration period will start in January 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • The online registration form will be posted here.

  • Click ‘Next’ after completing each page until you are invited to review your registration. Then click ‘SUBMIT’.

  • You should receive an email confirmation within half an hour if your submission has been successful.

  • No registrations will be accepted after midnight on February 28 for any reason.

  • d.tech emails details about the lottery and waitlist process to registrants in early March.

  • The Lottery takes place on March 7, 2019, from 5:30 - 7 pm. Results are expected to be emailed by 7:30 pm.

  • The majority of families wait for lottery results to be emailed to them in the privacy of their homes. However, the lottery is held in public, and some families attend to wait and see if their numerical identifier is posted. Student names are not used at this event to protect family confidentiality. Further details will be emailed on March 5.

  • Visits for students who receive offers to enroll , and the first 25 students on the waitlist, have been reorganized.

Please save the date for an Open House for students with offers, and their parent/guardians on Wednesday, March 13, 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Parent tours will be organized for the first 25 families on the waitlist. All who receive offers will be invited to tour, and students will be invited to shadow as long as the school is in session. Offers will also go out in August if some families have relocated over the summer.

  • The deadline for decision, online enrollment and all paperwork to be received by d.tech, is Monday, March 25 at 4:00 pm. The accept link must be clicked on Sunday, March 24 for the online enrollment snap code to arrive in time. After the deadline, incomplete enrollment offers will be rescinded, and the seat will be offered to the next student on the waitlist.
