Design Thinking at d.tech

Design Tech High School makes students innovation-ready by helping them develop skills that are critical to success in the 21st century - skills like collaboration, creativity, self-management, and communication. Students develop these skills by building deep content knowledge and learning important problem-solving skills. The two principles that guide our educational model are extreme personalization and putting knowledge in action. These are incorporated into the student experience in two ways:
- by holding every student to the same high standards while allowing each student to move at his or her own pace to achieve those standards, and
- by teaching students to solve real-world problems using a design-thinking approach similar to that taught at Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design (d.school). Together, these two approaches provide students with a thinking model they can use throughout their lives to make a positive contribution to a constantly changing world.
