How to Visit

Open Houses and Campus Visits

The next set of Open House dates will be announced in mid-September, 2017.

Design Tech recently experienced a surge in interest among prospective students with the announcement that its new Redwood Shores campus is set to open in January 2018. This has meant that there are not enough spots to accommodate all requests to attend an Open House or arrange a student campus visit.

Here are the steps we have take to accommodate as many prospective families as possible:

  • Open Houses are restricted to 8th grade families. If you are the parent of a 7th grader, we ask you to wait until next year to attend.

  • Students who attend Open Houses can arrange to visit the campus prior to the lottery as part of the Student Ambassador program. The visit is designed and led by current d.tech students, and it includes ice-breakers, student-student FAQs, a tour and a group design challenge. It gives prospective students peer insights into the community and program that are not as readily accessible during a traditional shadow.

  • Families who were not able to book an Open House spot, and therefore not able to arrange a campus visit, will be offered a student visit and parent tour after the lottery provided an offer to enroll is received. This means that some families will apply in January without having visited the school. Although this strategy does not bring early insights, it does offer more families the opportunity to visit.

In the meantime, we hope that this website offers substantive information on the path to determining if d.tech is a potential match, and we appreciate your patience and interest.
